TÜV NORD's legal department needed a way to speed up review of high-volume standard contracts like NDAs and relieve senior lawyers of repetitive review work. The team wanted a tool requiring no IT skills or lengthy onboarding, since legal staff had no dedicated technical support.

TÜV NORD deployed Legartis, an AI contract review tool integrated directly as a Microsoft Word Add-in, starting with Non-Disclosure Agreements as the pilot use case due to their standardized, low-complexity nature. The rollout was run as a structured project with defined stakeholders, playbook working groups, and a dedicated MS Teams coordination channel, and the team was operational after a single training session.

Over the first 3 months, TÜV NORD's legal team reviewed roughly 100 NDAs with 16 active users, reporting significant time savings and high trust in the AI's output even during the pilot phase. The initiative drew positive attention up to executive board level and prompted early moves toward standardizing internal contract templates, with plans to extend use to other standard contracts, general terms and conditions, and more complex reviews such as M&A data rooms.
